Twitter Implements Temporary Read Limits: A New Era of User Engagement

Twitter's CEO, Elon Musk, announces the implementation of "Temporary Read Limits On Twitter. a move aimed at combating data scraping and system manipulation.

Users, especially unverified accounts, are met with "Rate limit exceeded" notifications, causing confusion and public outcry

Initially, verified accounts were allowed to read up to 6,000 posts a day, while unverified accounts were limited to 600 posts

and new unverified accounts had a limit of 300 posts. Musk, however, assured users that these limits would soon increase to 10,000, 1000, and 500 posts respectively

with plans to increase the limits for verified and unverified accounts. Musk's goal is to strike a balance between user engagement and platform security.

Musk removes the legacy blue ticks and introduces the paid subscription service Twitter Blue. Critics argue that this makes the platform more susceptible to imposters and disinformation

Twitter Blue offers subscribers benefits such as a blue tick, longer tweet lengths, the ability to edit published tweets, reduced ads, and the use of non-fungible token (NFT) profile pictures.
